If you would like to have interview episodes for your podcast, you must find guests who will join you for the conversation. Complimentary businesses can be one source for potential guests.
Complimentary businesses provide products or services which would benefit your audience. These services differ from what you sell, yet together they compliment one another.
For example, pest control businesses periodically knock on the front door of my home seeking to sell their wares. Other businesses knock, asking if I would like a quote on new windows. Still others ask about mowing my lawn. Clearly, the "no solicitation sign" at the entrance of the neighborhood is for decoration only. 🙃 But I digress . . .
These businesses provide different services, yet each could be beneficial if you own a home in our area. In this case, they work in a complimentary fashion. Another example is a realtor and a mortgage provider. The realtor helps with the sale of the house while the mortgage provider helps with the financing of the house. They function in a complimentary relationship.
What businesses function in a complimentary way to yours? People in these companies can be excellent interviews for your audience. I have interviewed people who own course creation companies, video production companies, and virtual assistant companies. I don't do this type of work, yet my audience likely has a need for their services.
I look for businesses that use their podcast as part of their content marketing. By using their podcast to build trust with their audience while promoting their brand, they are modeling what I want my audience to learn.
What could this look like for you?
Till next time!
